Mudlarks Garden

Mudlarks are one of the partner organisations delivery the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) project in Hertfordshire.

The aim of the BBO partnerships is to tackle poverty and promote social inclusion across England. We run the Strive and Herts Youth Motivator projects:

Strive in Herts

Strive is for people with complex barriers to employment, who may have been through previous unsuccessful interventions to support them into employment, volunteering or education. The Strive project has Mentors who work alongside Participants to identify barriers and support their transition into sustainable employment, volunteering, and/or further education.

This project also has Hubs located throughout Hertfordshire which bring together different organisations to improve signposting and create an informal, unintimidating atmosphere. A wide range of subjects are offered from horticulture to crafts to dealing with anxiety.

Herts Youth Motivator

This project supports young people to overcome significant barriers to the workplace, improve their employability or enter training or work. Herts youth Motivator support young people aged 15 to 19 years old, or age 21 for care leavers and 25 for those with disabilities, who are Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET), at risk of becoming NEET.

Participants receive up to 80 hours of 1-to-1 support, tailored to their needs and delivered at a pace to suit them. Delivery is based in the local community. Mentors coach participants through each step, working closely with them to improve their confidence, skills and knowledge to overcoming barriers.
